Travel pillows are comfortable and can make traveling easier, but you can get dirty after a few trips. Most Samsonite travel pillows have a removable, machine washable cover, but the pillow underneath can still stain or start smelling. When this happens, it is best to wash the pillow by hand. Disconnect the valve on its side and deflate the travel pad. Be sure to connect a backup once it is deflated, so that no water gets inside it. Close the drain and pour a quarter of the size of liquid detergent into the sink.
Fill the sink halfway with cold water. Shake the water with your hand to mix in the liquid detergent. Submerge the travel pillow in the water. Rub the travel pad against yourself. Let stand for five minutes. Drain the sink. Rinse the pillow under cold running water for three minutes or until the water runs clear. Gently wring the pillow and hang it to dry on the shower rod. If the pillow has a stain, treat it with a stain remover before hand washing it. You can also wash the pillow by hand in a tub or bucket.
